It is not noticeable in a normal work environment, which for me includes background noises from refrigerators, freezers, laboratory equipment, building vents, etc. We also tested a separate Latitude D that had integrated graphics Intel’s GM Graphics Media Accelerator that drew up to MB of system memory and scored a in our MobileMark test, slightly lower than the Latitude D with the Radeon X, but it lasted minutes in our battery drain test.
The D also has an ExpressCharge feature, and a full charge takes around an hour, and only a bit more while using the notebook. Boot-up is significantly faster infrarsd my Pentium 4 3.

Reason for Purchasing I am currently a graduate student in a biomedical research lab and use my notebook primarily for writing, image editing and data storage.
